Tenerife: Day 7

We walked again to Los Gigantes; this time right down to the black sand beach. We stopped at an English pub and had a bacon sandwich and beer. We met a very nice Englishman (retired) and chatted with him for quite a while.
Playa de la Arena Playa de la Arena looking towards Los Gigantes, our goal. This is a very athletic walk - there are several BIG hills between our hotel and the beach at Los Gigantes.
poinsettia Discovered at the bus stop in Playa de la Arena - a poinsettia. this is a small one but they grow up to 4 metres tall and in parts of the island are little more than weeds.
Orange lilly Also at the bus stop - a lovely orange lilly.
villa with Canary palm Villas in Los Gigantes with a Canary palm. The hillside is so steep that all houses have a super sea view.
bottle-brush Tree Across the road was this "Bottle Brush Tree". It is originally from Australia but we saw them all over Tenerife. The trees grow 4 to 6 metres tall.
los Gigantes cliffs Los Gigantes cliffs. There were houses and hotels behind us - in front a steep drop to the next terrace. Everyone has a super view but one has to be very fit to walk around Los Gigantes town.
Schooner leaving Los Gigantes harbour A schooner leaving Los Gigantes marina to look for whales or dolphins. We walked down to the harbour and beach but did not go in swimming after all. How does one get rid of the black sand????
